Jack Hughes, New Jersey Devils Agree to 8-Year, $64 Million Extension
Jack Hughes is coming back New Jersey Devil squad on Tuesday night – and will stay with them even longer thanks to a new contract extension.
The Devils on Tuesday rewarded their 2019 No. 1 draft pick with an eight-year, $64 million deal, announcing the move hours before the youth center will return to the anti-ice rink. returns to Sharks after taking a break from October 19 with a separate role .
“This is a strong commitment from Jack to the future of the organization and the New Jersey Devils to Jack,” managing partner David Blitzer said in a statement. “We all know how much Jack means to the team on and off the ice – he’s an unbelievable player and a great person. His future is incredibly bright and he will be the mainstay of our brand for many years to come.”
His new contract starts in the 2022-23 season. The 20-year-old was scheduled to become a restricted freelance worker after this campaign.

Hughes has two goals and one assist in two games this year. In his first two seasons, along with the two he played this year, he had 55 points (20 goals, 35 assists) in 119 NHL games.
Hughes has earned 31 points out of 56 games played between 2020-21, where he scored 11 goals and provided 20 assists. He finished in second place in the league with 56 points.
Hughes was second above the Devils in points last season, and led the club with 142 shots on goal. He is the only striker to have played in all 56 games.
Hughes has represented the United States twice at the world juniors in 2018 and 2019. His younger brother, Luke, was a New Jersey first-round pick, and fourth in the draft. NHL 2021. The defender currently plays in Michigan. His brother, Quinn, is the guardian for Vancouver Canucks.
