Jackie’s Warrior Too Fast in Churchill Downs
J. Kirk and Judy Robison’s JACKIE’S WINNER (c, 4, Music by Maclean–Unicorn Girl, by AP Five Hundred) looks like a winner every step of the way in Saturday’s GI Churchill Downs S., crisscrossing the :22.76 and :45.50 divisions while staying away from the fence and running home in the alley for even money looking like a gift. Reinvestment risk (Start up) came in second, about three-and-a-half behind the winner and just ahead of GI Breeders’ Cup 2021 Sprint hero, Aloha West (Spin hard), who had to work a little harder sooner than he wanted to be in range. Jackie’s Warrior, last year’s champion sprinter and GII Pat Day Mile winner on this card 12 months ago, stopped the clock at 1:21.95. After breaking out of sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint with a bone chip, he returned to GIII Count Fleet H.’s narrow victory over the sloppy Oaklawn track on April 16. Calendar Sales history: $95,000 ylg’ 19 KEESEP. Lifetime record: Ch. Sprinter, 14-10-1-1. OJ. Kirk and Judy Robinson. Cage BJ & J (Ky). T-Steven M. Asmussen.
