Jaron Ennis wants the next Roiman Villa or Rashidi Ellis in May or June

Via Knitting Ambrosio: Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis said if he can’t fight for the title in May or June when he returns to the ring, he wants Roiman Villa or Rashidi Ellis to defend his newly won IBF welterweight title.

Ennis (30-0, 27 KOs) is about to have a one-way win in the 12th round against Karen Chukhadzhian on January 7.

That bout was a sequel to Ennis, 26, who was held on hold, waiting for 147 lb champions Errol Spence Jr & Terence Crawford to fight or face him.

When neither of those things happened, Ennis was forced to wait, and he was tired of it.

In 2023, it is hoped that the sanctioning authorities will put Spence & Crawford’s feet in the fire, forcing them to fight each other, face Ennis or drop the belt.

Ennis is motivated by criticism

“I love it, keep talking. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis said to fight about the people who talked about him. “It is making my next opponent worse. I’m very happy. For me, it doesn’t matter what I do. They will have something to say about it.

“First, it was ‘he won’t get past six innings. We don’t know if he has a chin or not.’ Now, it’s that I can’t cut the ring. That’s a whole bunch of things. You don’t know what you want. You all have to decide, but I feel good, though.

“It was great to finish the rounds. I can do it twelve more times. It’s easy to stand up the whole time. I got through it,” Ennis of ‘Boots’ said of his January 7 game against Karen Chukhadzhian at Capitol One Arena in Washington, DC. “I feel very well. I certainly could have done some more work.

The important thing is that Ennis’ next opponent isn’t a runner like the one he just dealt with because that puts him in a situation where he doesn’t stand a chance of looking good.

In the best possible case, either Crawford or Spence would eventually agree to face Ennis, and let him prove if he’s the real one. Will that happen? That is doubtful, unfortunately.

Spence & Crawford are playing it safe, not wanting to risk their position and earning power by letting a lion cub like Boots Ennis beat them.

Boots Ennis fight in May or June

“Maybe I’ll be back in the ring in May or June.”. I’m trying to get three matches this year, so May or June is a great time for me to get back in the ring. No, no name. Just wait, try to see what’s going on,” Ennis said when asked if there was a potential competitor.

“Terence [Crawford] or Errol Spence,” Ennis said of who he wanted to fight if it were up to him. “It was a good match, but I think Errol could stop him in the final rounds,” Jaron said when asked who would win between IBF, WBA & WBC welterweight champions Spence and Keith Thurman in the bout. expected in April.

“Thurman is not bad or nothing. He can still fight and can move. It won’t be easy, but I think the pressure [will get to Thurman]. I think he [Thurman] durable, but I think Errol can get him, but who knows? It’s boxing; Anything can happen.

“It was a good fight. ryan [Garcia] tall. Tank has to participate like Mike Tyson,” said ‘Boots’ Ennis when asked for his views on the April 15 match between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Ryan Garcia. “I think Tank will get him out of there.

“It was a crazy fight. I fight with both. I like Caleb Plant and I like David Benavidez. It was definitely a great fight. It’s a 50-50 fight,” Ennis said of the March 25 matchup between WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez and former IBF 168 lb champion Caleb Plant.

“Can the best man win? You don’t know,” Boots said of who would win the Plant vs. Benavidez. “Who has the best training camp, and who focuses and doesn’t go into it like a madman. If you are a madman, you will get hurt. You have to do what you have to do.

“I feel like whoever is the smartest man that night and is in the best shape wins.

Jaron wants to resume operations in 2023

“For me, I really don’t care who it is. I just want to stay active, stay busy and stay in the ring and stay sharp,” Boots Ennis said when asked who he wants to fight next in May. “One of them, it doesn’t matter,” Ennis said of his next potential rival, Rashidi Ellis & Roiman Villa.

“If you can’t get a champion, then one of you. It doesn’t matter who it is. I just want to keep working and keep fighting,Ennis said.
