Jussie Smollett makes a rare appearance at the 2022 BET Awards
In addition to announcing that New music is on the way “very soon,” Smollett shared a message to supporters, who stood by him throughout his legal drama.
“I just tell them, with all my heart, just thank you guys,” he told the outlet. “They never wavered. They never crossed the fence and for that, I’m forever grateful. I don’t take that lightly.”
He continued, “My family, my friends, real people, supporters, just, you know… If I never got to hug you in person, just know yes a hug in the heart that I really mean.”
Back in March, Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in prison plus 30 months probation for making a false police statement after telling investigators he was the victim of a accusations of hate crimes in 2019. After the lawyer appealed his conviction, Smollett released from prison only six days into his words.
