Kia Seltos GT-Line FWD: New Special Edition Confirmed


The Kia Seltos The line-up will be supported by a new high-spec front-wheel drive variant in the coming months, according to a dealer newsletter obtained by CarExpert.

From production March 2022, Kia Seltos GT-Line FWD Limited Edition will offer a top trim level for the first time with a base 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine and front-wheel drive.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but with a $3500 difference between the turbocharged Sport + FWD and Sport + AWD variants, expect the Seltos GT-Line FWD to cost around $41,990 to drive compared to $45,290. la the current D/A of the GT-Line AWD.

Strength comes from the familiar 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine ‘MPi’ shared with the S, Sport and Sport+ versions of the Seltos, with 110kW power 6200 rpm and 180Nm of torque at 4500 rpm.

For comparison, the GT-Line AWD’s 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged engine makes 130kW (6000rpm) and 265Nm (1500-4500rpm).

Drive in the GT-Line FWD is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), as opposed to the dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive required by turbocharged models.

In existing variants running this powertrain, Kia claims a combined fuel level of 6.8L/100km. The 2.0 liter mill runs the Atkinson cycle more efficiently.

A choice of seven exterior colors will be offered:

According to the news release, it looks like the limited edition GT-Line FWD won’t offer a contrasting roof option like the GT-Line AWD.

CarExpert understands that this new special edition will open up more volume to the Seltos lineup, for certain variants experiencing a customer-reported wait time of more than 12 months – with the GT-Line suffering most severely affected.

Kia has been fairly outspoken about the issues of limited supply and long wait times for customers across various vehicle models, but still posted 19.9% ​​growth for the Seltos in January, with 934 units delivered. sold out.
