Kia Australia is recalling 31,074 vehicles nationwide Sorento and Sport due to software problems can lead to vehicle fire.
“Due to a software issue, Heater Core Element may operate at higher than expected temperatures causing damage to the connector,” the company said in the recall notice.
“If this happens it could lead to a car fire.
“Vehicle fires can increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you can contact your Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have the issue fixed.
A technician will update the HVAC control unit software and inspect the heater’s core element and connectors, replacing them if they are damaged.
