Klimt Filly Caps Big day for McPeek in Iowa Oaks
Well supported at 39-10, Butter beans (Klimt) completed the most productive Saturday for the Ken McPeek warehouse, ramping up three stretches before flying home to a favorable success in the GIII Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows on Saturday.
A convincing winner 5 3/4 of the length of the local Oaks prep competition in Panthers S. On June 11 more than a mile, chestnuts were pulled back to the final spot and dropped onto the fence to cross. pitch through a few clamps open in a solid: 23.50. Satisfied with time in the back, Butterbean had a one-time defeat in the turn, but progressed on the inside track at pole three-eighths. Spoiled under Glenn Corbett’s bloated head, Butterbean races against the odds Falconet (Uncle Mo) with a slightly longer time to move and clear sweeps to score impressively. Free like a girl (El Deal) ran inside Falconet and took third place.
McPeek is also represented by GI Belmont Derby sadter Classic Causeway (Giant’s Causeway) and Runaway Wife (Gunman) and Silverleaf (Speightster), placed second and third in GIII Indiana Oaks, respectively.
Ranked first in the auction price-restricted maiden allowance at Churchill last October and November, Butterbean completed the correct test in a first Gulfstream ‘open’ exam on 22 January , but only came sixth in a similar test at Keeneland on April 10. A came in second when looking for a confidence boost against girly $75,000 book lovers below Twin Spiers May 4, Keeneland’s $22,000 September bargain graduated 23 days then and second in a row when last seen in the Panthers.

The first ranking winner for Klimt expatriate, Butterbean is the half-sister to GSW Conquest Daddyo (Scat Daddy) and SW Hangingbyathread (Giant’s Causeway). Her 2-year-old half-brother Fast Forward (Bolt d’Oro) made his debut in the special weight company Churchill this past May and Letting Go has produced one. Full sister to Butterbean last season.
