Large cargo ship collision in Gujarat’s Kutch Bay leaves an oil slick: PRO Defense
Kutch Bay is one of the main routes for India’s oil trade.
Ahmedabad:
A major collision occurred between two cargo ships in Gujarat’s Kutch Bay on Friday night, resulting in an oil slick in the Arabian Sea, Gujarat’s PRO Defense said today.
No casualties were reported in the collision between the mass aircraft carrier MVs Aviator and Atlantic Grace off the coast of Gujarat.
Indian Coast Guard ships in the vicinity have been placed on standby, while the situation continues to be monitored, PRO said. A pollution control vessel in the area has also been placed on standby.
The Gulf of Kutch is one of the main routes for India’s oil trade, making it a particularly busy sea route that has seen oil spills in the past.
