Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Feels Like ‘One Big, Cohesive Galaxy’
I don’t know about you, but Lego Star Wars was my party game in middle school. The hilarious adventures I’ve had while playing through the classic trilogy and its prequel continue to be some of my favorite co-op memories. Skywalker Saga is expected to amplify the comedy and expand the universe. A new behind-the-scenes trailer offers interesting insights into what the development team is putting together for Star Wars fans, and it looks great. For example, assistant game director Dewi Roberts mentioned the sheer level of freedom players will experience in The Skywalker Saga; feels like “a large, cohesive galaxy”.
In the trailer, Roberts will go on to talk about how the team “wanted to blur the lines between levels and explore the open world”. And with more planets available than ever, Skywalker Saga is sure to be The biggest Lego Star Wars game yet.
Lead animator Mark Crane doubled down on this, saying, “The planets are where this game really comes to life. The sheer scale of this is off the charts. Can travel across entire galaxies, away from all the planets that you can recognize from the movies. Based on the footage, the player can travel to any unlocked world of their choice – from Tatooine to Coruscant, Bespin to Kashyyk.
More vivid images have also been implemented. The weather effect stains the player character’s clothes and tires. Snow gently adhered to Wookie’s fur, while beach sand smeared the plated armor. In Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, the different planets feel alive. There are space missions, side quests (you can farm in the Sarlacc pit!) and secret challenges. Furthermore, collecting Kyber Bricks scattered throughout the game enhances character skills such as Force ability and stronger firepower. Players will constantly given a reason to go off the beaten path.
Lead sound designer Tessa Verplancke concludes: “We were able to capture so many worlds and bring them all together and really make them the way we wanted to be something I’ve always been proud of, ” concludes lead sound designer Tessa Verplancke.
Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on April 5.
