Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah wins FWA award for second time, equals Cristiano Ronaldo
Liverpool front Mohamed Salah won the Writers Guild of America (FWA) Player of the Year award for the second time, it was announced on Friday.
The 29-year-old man enjoyed a 48% share of the vote first City of Manchester midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and West Ham United‘S Declan Rice to win prizes.
In other places, Chelsea striker Sam Kerr also won the Women’s Player of the Year award after another stellar campaign. The 28-year-old won the award with 40% of the vote, beating the Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema and Manchester City Lauren Hemp.

FWA President Carrie Brown said: “Both Mo and Sam have been outstanding this season, breaking records for both club and country. As well as their performances on the pitch, they are who lead and carry the standard of excellence at their respective clubs and leagues.
“The fact that they won by such a convincing margin underlines how impressive they have been this season and has been recognized by our members.”
Both players are winning the Golden Boot in respective competitions with Salah scoring 22 and Kerr scoring 18.
Salah was fit Manchester United‘S Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award for the second time after receiving the award in 2018.
The Egypt international is of course to claim his third Premier League Golden Shoe with just Arsenal Legendary Thierry Henry gets more wins with four to his name.
Salah has made Liverpool history this season by becoming the club’s first player to score 20 Premier League goals in three different campaigns.
He’s been a key figure in Liverpool’s bid to win the unprecedented Quartet. Liverpool have won the Carabao Cup and will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final while still in the race to win the Premier League and Champions League.
Both Salah and Kerr will receive their awards on May 5, the FWA said.
