Lomachenko thinks Golovkin has “health” problems to fight Canelo
Via Craig Daly: Vasyl Lomachenko suspects that Gennadiy Golovkin fought Canelo Alvarez with a “Health” problem with his right hand last Saturday night because of him ONLY used his left hand for 12 rounds at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
To be sure, 40-year-old Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) mostly uses his left hand, even as he begins to focus on the 1/8 round.
In the championship rounds, Golovkin seems to use only his left hand for his power shots. Sometimes, Golovkin throws the right, but it’s not like how he fights normally.
Golovkin has always been a massive right-handed puncher, but he failed to use this dangerous weapon against Canelo for a number of reasons, which could indicate he was injured.
Without his primary weapon, Golokin has no chance against undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo as he won’t defeat him with a jab or by throwing a left hook.
Although Golovkin appeared to stun Canelo with his left at the ninth minute, he couldn’t follow up to try to finish him off because he didn’t use his right hand.
“It was a very interesting fight, but I think GGG has a problem with his healthbecause he only worked during the fight with his left hand,” Vasyl Lomachenko told Sports artist KO after Gennadiy Golovkin’s loss to Canelo Alvarez last Saturday.
Lomachenko may be right about Golovkin’s hand injury. Why didn’t he use that hand in the fight?
After this performance, Lomachenko said that Golovkin could “retire” from the sport. He doesn’t know what Golovkin can do, but if this is how he will fight in the future, hanging up the gloves might be a wise thing.
“Look, I don’t know; Nobody know. It’s boxing,” Lomachenko said when asked if he expected more from Golovkin. “Before a fight, you think about the strategy of the fighters, but in a fight, all that changes; all happen.
“It will be interesting,” Lomachenko said when asked about the rematch between Canelo and WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. “I think Canelo needs this.”
