Do you like your custom Xbox controller? Do you spend hours building these miniatures? HeroForge? What if you could do something similar to your Dungeon Master screen? The Infinity screen from the game Dog Might offers you such an opportunity.
Let’s go through the basics first. These displays have three separate panels – a substantial 20-inch x 9-inch center plate flanked by two 11.75-inch x 9-inch side panels. Each is an ingenious combination of 5/8-inch thick kiln-dried hardwood, arranged to prevent warping.
The plates connect with a magnetic rod between them, allowing for a lot of freedom in setup. There are also 22 magnets embedded into the back of the display to give you plenty of places to stick your boards and other bits of information that can help propel your campaign forward. Alternatively, you can choose to use your own Dog Might Valhalla Monitor accessory line, which includes items like dice towers and phone stands. There’s also a cutout along the top of the center console for active tracking.
All of that makes for a solid enough DM monitor, but doesn’t quite justify the price tag that starts at $595. To do that, we have to turn to the players side to see what makes it. the Infinity Display difference.
Laser-engraved designs cover every inch of the exterior, and you can customize it all. At the center of the screen is a giant work of art that occupies all 9 inches of its height. There are 10 different hub designs that cover a lot of TTRPG staples like a demon, a lich, or a Cthulhu-like monster, and you’ll be able to choose from nine different frames to go around it.
To its left and right, spanning the side panels, there are 10 different background scenes such as pub interiors, townscapes or battlefields. With another option on either side, game masters have the opportunity to herald their campaign with a sort of trio. There are even more options for side panels, including additional symbols like tomes or a band of kobolds that can be placed on either or both sides with their own frames around them.
With their website, you can choose from all your options, including a bunch of different colors. Dog Might told Polygon via email that the brilliant stain is achieved by “a mix of water and alcohol-based stains and inks,” followed by a “glaze coating.” [applied] hand for rich dark line work. ” You can get flat color with no blending – like a comic book – or you can pay for a more ‘artistic’ version so the artists at Dog Might can freely mix and match. Color the designs as they go.
Setting up one of these screens at the top of your gaming table will definitely send a message to players that you have business intentions.
