Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant suffered a left knee injury that forced him out of Friday’s game against Atlanta Hawks in the first quarter.
Morant was injured while dribbling towards the paint, although there weren’t any knocks that could have caused the injury. He started hobbling, passing the ball and then hobbling off the floor in the middle of the play.
After a brief stint in front of the Grizzlies’ bench, Morant was helped into the dressing room, not putting pressure on his left foot. Minutes later, the Grizzlies announced that he was out for the rest of the game.
Morant, 22, has established himself as one of the NBA’s top young stars. He appears to be well on his way to his first All-Star appearance this season, averaging a career-best 25.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game as he walks. on Friday night.
