Milwaukee Bucks expect veteran DeMarcus Cousins to be available to take on the Charlotte Hornets
MILWAUKEE – Shove coach Mike Budenholzer expectation DeMarcus Cousins available on Wednesday night against visit Charlotte Hornets.
The Bucks announced Tuesday that they are officially signing the veteran and four-time All-Star, who won the All-NBA second team title in 2015 and 2016.
Cousins will try to strengthen a Bucks forward line that is missing a wounded center Brook Lopez.
“DeMarcus is incredibly talented, and his size, toughness and experience will serve us well,” Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a statement. “He will provide more depth to our frontline rotation and we look forward to bringing him into our system.”
The Bucks (13-8) have won seven games in a row but are facing frontline problems due to the absence of Lopez, who hasn’t played since last season’s opening win brooklyn network because of a back injury.
Cousins will help in that regard, even if the 31-year-old striker is no longer in All-Star form.
He played a total of 41 games with Houston Rockets and LA Clippers last season when averaging 8.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 17.4 minutes.
Cousins keeps a career average of 20.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 intercepts in 606 regular-season games with Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden Empire Warriors, Rocket and Flippers. He won a gold medal with the US Olympic team in 2016.
In other moves, the Bucks signed Javonte Smart for a two-way contract and a waiver request for Justin Robinson.
