Mojito with simple homemade syrup
The best easy home-made mojito recipes are made with homemade simple syrup and other fresh ingredients.
- 2 ounce Rum white
- first ounce lemon juice new
- first ounce simple syrup see recipe below
- 8 fresh mint leaves
- Club soda with lemon flavor or carbonated water

In a cocktail shaker, add the rum, lime juice, simple syrup, and mint leaves. Puree (smash) mint leaves. Add ice and shake the cocktail, then pour into a tall glass like a Collins glass or a Highball glass. Add ice and finish with club soda. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

You can buy simple syrup or make your own. The easiest way is to put equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Beat until the sugar has dissolved, do not let the mixture boil. Cool and use as needed, or store in a container in the refrigerator and use for months if needed.
You can use any type of rum, but white rum is the traditional one. And you can use carbonated soft drinks or carbonated water instead of lemon flavored ones, but I think the lemon flavored one is a bit better.
