Mulayam Singh Yadav Daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav will join BJP tomorrow, claimant leader

Aparna Yadav is the daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Aparna Yadav, daughter-in-law of former Uttar Pradesh Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, will join the BJP tomorrow, a senior BJP leader announced on Tuesday evening. Ms Yadav’s switch to the BJP, if it happens, will be a major blow to the Samajwadi Party just weeks before the state poll.

Akhilesh Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, has emerged as the main challenger to the ruling BJP in the state. He has also gained the support of several opposition parties – Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and Sharad Pawar’s NCP – which are trying to establish an anti-BJP front ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Aparna Yadav is the wife of Pratik, the youngest son of Mulayam Singh. Speculation about her joining a rival party comes just days after three UP ministers and several BJP MLAs left the ruling party.

All three former ministers – Swami Prasad Maurya, Dharam Singh Saini and Dara Singh Chauhan – were welcomed at his party by Akhilesh Yadav. Vinay Shakya, Roshan Lal Verma, Mukesh Verma and Bhagwati Sagar are among the MLAs who joined the Samajwadi Party after the exodus.

In what was seen as a tit-for-tat move after the massive defeat, Haryana BJP in charge of Arun Yadav on Tuesday night tweeted in Hindi: “Aparna Yadav, wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav, son of Pratik, will join join the BJP tomorrow in the presence of Yogi Adityanath at 10 am.”

NDTV tried to contact Aparna Yadav for confirmation. A WhatsApp message sent to her has been read by her but a reply is waiting.
