Munnings’ half-sister in search of luck being ‘rising star’

Shahama (Munnings), who added nine lengths on her 1400-meter debut in Meydan on 9 December, endured a much more troublesome stretch in Saturday’s UAE 1000 Guineas Test, a feat condition on the same course and distance, but showed her considerable class in the final stages to score 2 1/2 lengths on the way to ‘Rising star TDN’-Domain. She is the eighth ‘Rising Star’ for her son.
Take it slow and ride from gate five, racing through a sloppy main track rare in this jurisdiction, $425,000 OBS April graduate (: 21 apartments) forced to sit at the back of the contentious pace, but went a long way behind. Starting with over a quarter of a mile, half-sisters with multiple champions Look at luck (Smart Strike), Ch. 2yo & 3yo Colt, MGISW, $3,307,278, hit the hurdles at the 300 meter marker and gallop home with the most winner.
“Seven feathers is the bare minimum for her, she’s taken a big step forward,” said winning racer Adrie de Vries. “I’ve never had a hard time, I’m following William Buick’s horse, I’m in the pocket, but she’s learned a lot today. Today she did it the hard way. I think when she went to the front today, she was waiting. I’m a bit concerned about the conditions, as the ground becomes firm when it rains. A mile and even further would be better for her. ”
Shahama, also half-sister to Kensei (Mr. Greeley), MGSW, $751,364, is a reasonable candidate for the UAE listed $1000 Guineas prize over 1600 meters on May 28. 1. SF Bloodstock acquired Shahama’s dam – a 1999 foal – for $40,000 with this full piece in utero at Keeneland’s November 2018 Sale. Private Feeling hasn’t produced a pony in 2020, but her son is now yearning for it Cruiser Catalina earned $200,000 from First Finds at last November Sale and most recently she was sponsored by her son Smart Strike Class I winner Tom’s d’Etat.
