For two of Teofimo’s fights to be on ESPN PPV in 2022, he’ll need to fight famous fighters. Taylor is one of them, but Teofimo may need to fight Regis Prograis or Jose Ramirez for the other.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum mentioned Jose Pedraza as a potential Teofimo competitor not too long ago, but he’s not popular enough with PPV.
Teofimo (16-1, 12 KOs) will be back from a decisive 12th round defeat in his final game against George Kambosos Jr. on November 27th.
Since 24-year-old Teofimo had trouble breaking the 135 lb limit, which resulted in a crushing defeat against Kambosos, he turned up to 140 to move in that weight class.
We still don’t know if Teofimo will hit the 140 lb weight limit without the burnout he did at 135.
Yes, it would be a little easier for Teofimo to get 140, but not by much. His walking weight is 158 when rehydrating and that’s a significant amount of water it takes to make 140. When you’re closer to 160, you’re better off fighting at 147.

This is supposed to be a simple title defense for Teofimo against a carnivorous candidate. Kambosos struggled to beat older boxers Mickey Bey and Lee Selby before knocking out Teofimo.
What upsets boxing fans is that Teofimo does not want to participate in the rematch proposed by Kambosos. Denying the rematch was a weak move by Teofimo.
