In a recent report, making rounds on the internet, it was said that people under the age of 21 cannot buy whipped cream in New York. According to a report in New York, the law was passed recently in New York – it instructs people to show identification before buying whipped cream from any grocery store. In fact, it is illegal for people under the age in question to buy a box of whipped cream.
Wondering why such a decision was taken by the authorities? Well, it can be bizarre at first glance; But according to the authorities, there’s more to it than that. NBC New York reports that these cans are often used by young people as snuff to trick their cognitive abilities. “Some adolescents use nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas) in whipped cream cans to achieve high levels, often referred to as making ‘whippits’ (or whipping),” the report said.
New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo, who sponsored the bill, recently took to Twitter to announce the news and explain misconceptions regarding the new law. He says he’s not asking people not to buy whipped cream; instead, he says it is illegal to buy individual cartridges for whipped cream boxes for people under 21.
