Nissan CEO confirms Nismo EVs on card – report

Future Nissan electric vehicles can achieve greater performance and refinement thanks to the adjustment arm Nismo.

Nissan Africa, Middle East, Europe and Oceania (AMIEO) President, Guillaume Cartier confirmed Top gear the company is actively looking at upcoming Nissan electric vehicles (EVs) that are likely to undergo the Nismo treatment.

“Nismo is an asset that we have and that is something we want to revive,” Mr. Cartier said.

“And are we going to have some, say, cars with Nismo rooted? The answer is yes. ”

These Nismo-branded EVs will receive changes to the suspension and powertrain, just like the Nismo-branded internal combustion engine cars, Mr. Cartier said. There will also be cosmetic changes, naturally.

Mr. Cartier expanded: “The point is, it’s not a gimmick.

“To use an English expression, it is not the lipstick mark on a pig. So that requires some investment to ensure that you deliver performance. ”

So maybe at some point we might see Nismo versions of Nissan Ariya SUVs and coming all-electric Nissan MicraThe latter is slated to premiere in 2024.

Alpine, the sports brand of Alliance partner Renault, has confirmed that it will introduce a hotter version of the upcoming Renault 5 EV, in which the reborn Micra will share the CMF B-EV architecture its.

It also has a sleek coupe crossover that goes into production in 2025, GT X-Overwill share the CMF-EV platform with the Nissan Ariya.

Nissan has produced a few Nismo-branded EVs. The first of these is Nissan Leaf NismoExclusively in the Japanese market.

Nissan has also previously showcased the Leaf Nismo RC racing car in a number of different iterations.

Nissan claims this racer can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Nissan AMIEO Senior Vice President and Chief Planning Officer François Bailly previously said Autocar that Nissan will use solid-state battery technology to create an electric sports car, but that’s not a priority.

Nissan has also previously said it plans to use solid-state batteries in “a wide range of vehicle segments, including pickup trucks”.

In November 2021, Nissan announced spending 2 trillion yen (US$21 billion) for electrification in the next five years.

It will also unveil 15 new EVs in 2030, and plans to introduce solid-state batteries in fiscal year 2028.

Nissan already has a solid-state battery prototype and says it has “approximately twice the energy density of conventional lithium-ion batteries, significantly shorter charging times due to superior charge/discharge efficiency and cost lower due to the opportunity to use less material”.
