Delhi Pollution: Not Supporting WFH, Center Notify Supreme Court

Air pollution in Delhi: The air quality of the city has not improved even after 10 days.

New Delhi:

The central government is not in favor of working from home for its employees, the Supreme Court was told today in an affidavit ahead of a hearing on air pollution in Delhi and surrounding cities, on the grounds that it would “not have much benefit and effect”.

In its affidavit, the government said, “… In the recent past, a number of government functions have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic substantially for a prolonged period resulting in divided all over India.”

However, the center said it had “given advice to its employees about carpooling”.

In a previous hearing, the Supreme Court asked the Center and the states to consider working from home for its employees for at least a week.
