Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley declines to speculate about his interest in the LSU job


Oklahoma Coach Lincoln Riley played down speculation Tuesday about whether he is interested in LSUCoach position, says that his feelings about the Sooners job have not changed.

Riley is 54-9 at Oklahoma, which prompted him to replace longtime coach Bob Stoops after the 2016 season. His name has been connected to NFL coach vacancies and his. was mentioned as a potential candidate to succeed Ed Orgeron of LSU, who’s out after the season.

When asked if he or his agent has been in contact with LSURiley said, “I’m a coach at the University of Oklahoma. You know how I feel about this place and this program. We’ve all been down this road many times. You know where I stand and how I feel. that doesn’t change.”

Riley, 38, in 2020 agreed to a six-year, $45.2 million deal with Oklahoma. He has led the Sooners to the Big 12 titles in each of his first four seasons and playoff appearances in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Oklahoma is 9-1 later on Saturday lose come Baylor.

Riley never coached at the SEC; he started his coaching career at Texas Technology, his alma mater, and then go to East Carolina before joining the Oklahoma staff as offensive coordinator in 2015.

Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher, a former LSU assistant, on Monday reiterated that he plans to stay with the Aggies in 2022.
