Overnight Oats – Base Rate + 15 Recipe

Overnight oats are a no-cooking method to make oatmeal. The basic idea is that you let the aged oats soak in milk overnight (or several nights), so that by the time you’re ready to eat in the morning, they’re soft and easy to digest.

You can add the ingredients to the overnight oats before soaking overnight, or you can mix the ingredients afterwards.

Usually, overnight oats are chilled straight from the refrigerator. You can also grab the boxes from your fridge in the morning and go to your office and eat them when you arrive (or on your way to work if you don’t drive).

Or, you can reheat the oats overnight in the microwave for 30-45 seconds for a quick warm up if desired.

You can use any milk you like. I usually use 2% milk, since that’s what we usually have at our house. However, anything from whole milk to skim milk will work, or a non-dairy option like soy milk, almond milk, or another option you prefer.

You can cook the bird’s nest overnight before 5 days. They will soften the longer they soak.

If you want to sweeten the base ratio recipe, I’ll usually add some chopped fruit to the bottom (or mix in), a spoonful or two of fruit jam, or stir in a little honey or maple syrup. maple into milk before combining with oats. .

You can make overnight oats with:

  • Yogurt – I usually replace 1/4 cup milk with 1/4 cup yogurt or mix in some yogurt after the oats are done.
  • Protein powder – stir a little into milk before soaking.
  • Peanut butter – or any nut butter you like
  • Fresh fruit – chopped and added before or after pickling.
  • Fruit jam – added to the bottom of the can before soaking, so it’s like store-bought fruit yogurt. Simply stir before serving.

While I love basic overnight oats, they can be a bit boring and I don’t like cold winter breakfasts. For that reason, I strongly recommend trying overnight baked oatmeal, which is usually made in larger quantities and can be reheated throughout the week if you just eat it.

Yes, but the results can be quite bland in terms of taste. Milk also adds creaminess. However, water will work if you prefer to use it instead of milk.
