Overwatch 2 mid-season patch delayed, making Mei unplayable
precaution 2The mid-season update was delayed at the last minute, making the original hero Mei unplayable for the time being.
A post on Official forums confirmed that the patch was pushed back due to an unexplained “serious issue” that was discovered shortly before it was released.
“Today’s patch was delayed as we worked to resolve a critical issue,” Blizzard confirmed. “We will provide an update here and have the patch live as soon as the issue is resolved.” The patch will now go live on November 17 at 11 a.m. PT, so mainstream Mei users won’t have to wait too long.
Mei has been removed from the game earlier this month due to a bug that allowed her to access off-limits locations using her Ice Wall ability. Basically, players can exploit this and hide themselves from the reach of other players.
Blizzard said at the time: “We’re temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability, which allows heroes to access unintended locations. “We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our upcoming update, scheduled for November 15th.”
The delayed patch also includes a number of other changes, including “upcoming balance changes, bug fixes, including those affecting Mei and core content updates that we planned for this patch,” Blizzard said.
“This delay also affects the delivery of Offers and Privileges to Overwatch League viewers from post-season games between October 30 and November 4, along with the US rotation. products in the Overwatch League store.” Daily and weekly challenges, as well as regular store refreshes, continue as planned.
IGN Overwatch 2 Review give it 8/10 and say: “precaution 2 breathed new life into what was once the sharpest multiplayer shooter around, before it was severely overshadowed by Blizzard’s attention shifting.”
