Paul Mulrennan has been named the winner of the Cock O’ The North competition with 90 winners. He will be presented with the Cock O’ The North cap on Saturday in Doncaster. This is his first victory in the traditional competition of Northern racing. The O’ The North cap is awarded to the jockey with the most wins at 16 North Flats each year. Ben Curtis is second out of 75 winners and four-time Cock O’ The North winner, Danny Tudhope is third with 72 winners.
Mulrennan said, “I have worked in Yorkshire for 20 years and to win this prestigious award, that is always what I want to do. I’ve seen some great riders win it over the years and I’ve been thinking lately that if I retire and don’t win it, it’s going to be something that’s gone through the net.
“I am very happy to have won and I am indebted to all the owners, trainers and stable staff who have helped me and kept the horses healthy and great. My agent is Richard Hale.”
