Respawn’s excellent action-adventure adaptation Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Command leads another month of free game downloads for Sony’s cheapest PlayStation Plus subscription tier. This is great news for those who still need to get it done before the deadline Jedi: SurvivorReleased in March. That’s less good news for anyone who recently paid for the hit 2019 blockbuster during the recent holiday sale.
As usual around this time of year, Jedi: Falling Command and a bunch of other big name games already recently got a big discount for Black Friday and Christmas. Normally $50, it was discounted in stores last month and is now just $7 on PSN, Xbox, and Steam. The game is worth owning outright for that price, so the fact that it’s now free on PS Plus shouldn’t be the biggest issue. But the same thing happened in December. with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, another excellent PS Plus sale that many probably bought on Black Friday.
However, January 2023 continues the recent momentum of subscription services with another full vehicle. Besides Jedi: Falling Command, fallout 76 and Verge 2’s Axiom will also be freeware for paid subscribers. When fallout 76 maybe there should be It’s been a long time since I played for freethere’s a lot to learn if you’ve ever been curious about the game after its disastrous launch. Verge 2’s AxiomOn the other hand, is a great thing to follow more esoteric to the cult independent Metroidvania.
The impressive lineup shows that Sony doesn’t look down on PS Plus subscribers, especially as they continue to lose them after complicating the subscription program with more expensive tiers that offer a Netflix-style library of games, streaming and access to (very small selection) PlayStation classics. Also, if you’re a Game Pass subscriber, it’s worth noting that fallout 76 and Jedi: Fallen Orders have been available there for a while as well.
