Remember Smash? It may just end up on Broadway
We have some breaking news – literally.
Smashmusical drama that aired on NBC for two seasons from 2012 to 2013 and chronicles the making of the fictional film Marilyn Monroe music Bombshellwill likely come to Broadway, according to the show’s original executive producer and its composer.
On May 22, the producer Neil Meronwho also produced the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago and the 2007 film adaptation of Hairsprayshared a bunch of photos and videos from directly reading the theatrical version of Smash.
Meron captioned the post: “#Smash is alive and well! Last week, I was @bobgreenblattpics and an unnamed production partner who has an incredible number of movie credits on his resume, proud to have assembled the creative team that is breathing new life into our TV series”
Is that the “unnamed production partner” Meron is referring to? None other than the movie icon Steven Spielberg! The Academy Award-winning director, who appears in photos from the reading, is coming soon His acclaimed revival of West story. Apparently he made a Broadway mistake!
