Via Dan Ambrose: Highly regarded featherweight superweight contender Chris Colbert said Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will knock out Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero when the two meet in a clash that is still scheduled.
Colbert (16-0.6 KO) feels that WBA #1 lightweight contender Rolly (14-0, 12 KO) is a “Mendicity” and had no chance of beating the ‘regular’ WBA champion Tank Davis (26-0.24 KOs).
However, Rolly has the ability to KO Tank if he lands one of his big hits, and if that happens, he could transform into a PPV star overnight.
As we’ve seen in Gervonta’s last two games against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and Leo Santa Cruz, he’s not hard to beat.
“That’s terrible. Gervonta Davis will knock him down. Rolly is a bum,” Chris Colbert told Fighthype in predicting Gervonta’s match against kt Rolly.
“Rolly is a useless person. I’m just saying, he’s a no-brainer,” Colbert said as he made it clear that he doesn’t judge Rolando.
Colbert is in the spotlight this Saturday, Feb. 26 on Showtime against replacement Hector Luis Garcia (14-0, 10 KOs) at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas
Rolly says Devin Haney can’t sell
“It’s sad because, to be honest with you, I think Devin is going to beat the Kambosos,” Rolly told Fighthype, saying that Devin Haney has priced himself out of the fight with George Kambosos.
“No no no. He values himself a lot,” said Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero of Haney valuing himself out of the game. fighting some 14-7 dudes.. Do you really think they’ll let me fight a guy half my size, powerless and aggressive?” Rolly said of Kambosos.
“I am talking about Kambosos. Haney is a no-brainer, man. He can’t even fill an arena. I won’t waste my time.
“I had a pay-per-view fight. [against Gervonta Davis]and you think i would fight against a guy who can’t even fill Mandalay Bay where he lives with all his fake followers?
“Invincible” I had [WBC lightweight] belts by email. ‘ Temporary [WBC] championship that Lomachenko was raised [to Franchise]therefore, Mr [Haney] became champion and then he played, ‘I’m not going to fight anybody with his belt but I’ll keep it just a little bit.’
“No one wants to fight his stupidity because he doesn’t produce anything,” Rolly said of Haney. “There is no point in fighting him. He has nothing to offer.
“Surname [Team Haney] made me an offer like ‘I don’t want to fight you.’ So am I really going to waste my time with Devin Haney? He was an asshole,” said Rolly.
At this point, we still don’t know if Haney will price herself out of the Kambosos fight as DAZN and Eddie Hearn are still in talks with Australian boxer Lou DiBella’s promoter.
Rolando predicts Lomachenko to stop Haney
“Lomachenko will stop him,” Rolly said when asked who would win between Kambosos and Loma. “Easy. That fight is not even competitive. Loma vs Teo. Kambosos doesn’t fight Teo.
“Teo, he fought a 10% version of Teo. That fight is Teo vs. Teo, to be honest at the end of it. I don’t know if it’s the devil or something, but he [Teofimo] injured. You don’t just not fight for a month and a half and go into a 12 round fight.
“The point is, if Kambosos was a decent fighter, he would take Teofimo down,” Rolly said. “Lomachenko will smash his *** [Kambosos], Man. It’s going to be bad,” said Rolly.
It’s clear that Lomachenko would easily defeat Kambosos if that fight were to come, but he might not stand a chance.
Haney promoter Eddie Hearn is still working on a play to get his fight on Kambosos, and he’s been backed by streaming giant DAZN.
Rolly wants to be a PPV . star
“I will fight Lomachenko. I have no problem with him,” Rolly said. “But he has the highest Rank. I don’t know how it will work. I’m being realistic,” Mayweather Promotions advertises to Rolly about the possibility that a fight between him and Lomachenko is unlikely.
“Besides, I have a lot of options on this side that are much more worthwhile than fighting Lomachenko. I’m not even doing this for the money.
“Gervonta Davis, be a pay-per-view star. Beat him and I become a pay-per-view star or fight Lomachenko and get an ABC belt.
“Honestly, I love having belts and all that. You get a belt, you secure it two or three times, you empty it and you get another f**** belt.
“It’s really important to be a star in this sport,” Rolly said.
If Rolly beat Tank Davis, that would make him an overnight star, but for him to remain a big name, he also needs to beat him in the rematch.
