Russia officially left the UN tourism organization after suspending it because of Ukraine
Moscow:
Moscow on Friday officially announced its withdrawal from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, which suspended Russia in April over its military activity in Ukraine.
The government said it had “accepted a proposal from the Foreign Ministry … regarding the withdrawal of Russia” from the Madrid-based agency, said a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The agency suspended Russia on April 27, saying Ukraine’s activity went against its “values”.
Russia has become an international country and has been excluded from a number of global organisations. It is also grappling with Western sanctions.
