DF Andy Robertson 6 – Usually makes the right decisions when going forward and doesn’t let him develop much on the flanks, even though opponents seem to be aiming for the opposite flank.
DF Virgil van Dijk 6 – A solid performance in the back, but his biggest moment of the game was when he failed to head into goal from 6 yards. His stoppage-time effort was too central and allowed Henderson to make a save.
DF Joe Gomez 5 – Sometimes holding the ball too long and getting caught in the second half when fouling Awoniyi in front of the opener.
DF James Milner 7– Play wide on the right and find a way to overlap Elliott to create chances with crosses into the penalty area. A key block to help Liverpool continue to play.
MF Fabinho 5 – Seems to be anchored at 4 defenders, but he can rarely get close to the Junglers for a challenge. The game was disrupted too often when he was holding the ball, with his worst moment when he ran into traffic with the ball and carelessly lost it in the 85th minute.
MF Curtis Jones 7 – The neat possession of the ball in the role shows that Jones wants to control the game from the midfield rather than create scoring opportunities in the more advanced areas. A strong performance after a spell out with injury in a role that could suit him in future games.
MF Harvey Elliott 7 – Elliott shines on the ball as the Reds regularly create attacks on the right flank, and he almost got an assist with a delicate pass that created a one-of-a-kind chance. two for Carvalho.
FW Fabio Carvalho 6 – The 20-year-old had his first big chance of the game with a delicate touch knocking out Elliott’s pass, but he couldn’t get it right. Sometimes wasted ownership.
FW Roberto Firmino 5 – Liverpool struggled to get the ball into the net of Firmino, who failed to make the most of his limited possession opportunities. Finally being substituted in the 76th minute.
FW Mohamed Salah 5 – Hesitant with decision making and can’t seem to go against Forest’s backline. Anonymous in the second half after failing to get the proper connection on an opportunity when he had more time than he thought.
Alternative products
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Milner, 62″) 7 – Several dangerous serves almost led to the goal, but Firmino and Van Dijk were unable to convert. Came close with a header to pull out a Henderson save.
Jordan Henderson (Carvalho, 62″) 6 – The captain pressed fiercely from the middle of the field to help Liverpool win the ball back in more favorable positions.
