Sonic Origins Patch fixes Tails’ annoying jumping in Sonic 2, many more

When Sonic Origins hit consoles and PC in June, it offered a bundle of four classic Sonic the Hedgehog games from the 90s. While the bundle was praised for bringing Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD onto modern platforms with numerous gameplay improvements and other additions, it was also heavily criticized. Various bugs, mislabeled titles in the in-game museum, and overall stability (especially with the PC version) have frustrated the player base as they wait for Sega to fix the problem. This week, Sega released a long-awaited patch that addresses those issues and more, hopefully stabilizing the compilation process and making the overall experience more enjoyable.

The two biggest items this patch addresses include fixing game crashes and one of the most annoying bugs of the year: Tails lags behind in Sonic 2 and constantly jumps instead of respawning on players – late together we can disable the mute feature while playing Sonic 2. The patch also includes fixes for audio bugs, menu and controller issues, mislabeling in museums, and issues about data storage. Unfortunately, the alternate music in Ice Cap, Carnival Night, and Launch Base remains the same.

The patch is available to download now for all platforms. Sonic Origins is out on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC on June 23. For more on a quick game selection, check out our review. here.
