Sonos strikes $100m deal to buy Netherlands-based speaker firm Mayht
US-based premium speaker manufacturer Sonos has acquired a Dutch-based speaker manufacturing company called Mayht Holding BV.
Sonos acquired Mayht for about $100 million in cash.
In a press release announcing the acquisition, CEO Patrick Spence stated that “this strategic acquisition” gives Sonos “greater people, technology and intellectual property.” will further differentiate the Sonos experience, enhance our competitive edge, and accelerate our future roadmap.”
Mayht specialize in professional, automotive, bluetooth and voice-enabled home speakers.
Sonos says that Mayht has “invented a new, revolutionary approach to audio transducers”.
Sonos is a publicly traded company in the US, on NASDAQ.
The speaker company says that details on the acquisition will be provided during its Q2 earnings call in May.
