Square Enix’s Forspoken Trailer Goes Completely Online
Earlier this week marketing team behind Square Enix’s upcoming action game Forspoken posted a Tweet with a few sales bullet points and a short video of the game. This should have been a very ordinary and forgettable exercise in video game advertising, but readers, I’m here to tell you that this video is bad.
Before we go any further, here’s the Tweet:
I can see what they’re trying to do here. Break this down into something relevant, like an advertisement for a Marvel TV series where a daily kid gets some wild powers. But, yeah, yeah. So bad! And although I don’t believe the rates under a Tweet are hard sciencethe fact that this video was quoted on this tweet many times (at time of posting) is not a good sign:
I didn’t write this only tell you it’s bad it’s terrible though content on the internet every second of every day that I have no trouble posting on the Kotaku.com website. I wrote this to share some great examples of people—some highlights from the 6757 listed above—sure rang video.

Readers may remember the last time we wrote about Forspokenat the end of 2021 when we find that out in addition to the cast of protagonist Freya Ella Balinska not a single black person was directly involved in the creation of this prominent black protagonist, Square Enix instead said the team worked “closely with several consultants from BIPOC backgrounds”.
Finally, for anyone wondering if this trailer is somehow not representative of the game itself, here it is. another helpful snippet from Isaiah’s preview of the game:
Another concern I’ve been previewing is how often Frey and Cuff will check in with each other while playing the game, which is the amount of Marvel movies from both its first trailer, The Game Awards trailer, and the look at it. my reality. These quips will include swearing during Frey and Cuff’s spat during combat encounters. In response to this concern, Square Enix said the intention of the joke was to present Frey’s complexity as a “complicated, imperfect, and raw character” while making her more relatable when the player insert herself into the scene she perceives herself. In.
Maybe this game will end well, who knows! But boy, I can’t remember the last time a big release appreciate its pre-release process That’s too bad.
