Startup Communications Director Zilingo Resigns After Co-Founder Leaves
Nearly two months after the co-founder of Singapore-based Zilingo, Ankiti Bose, was fired over financial irregularity allegations, the company’s Director of Communications and Public Relations Naushaba Salahuddin, also announced that resignation.
Ms Salahuddin, who was previously suspended for trying to question her employer’s media claims after Ms Bose’s disqualification, expressed hope that the truth would work out.
Zilingo’s former head of communications announced his resignation on LinkedIn last week, saying: “Because I may be at risk of more threats and discredit for expressing dissenting views and because this post, I can walk away knowing that I have given my all to this company. It’s been one of my biggest learning curves, and I’ve met some of the best people I now proudly call my best friends. I am incredibly grateful and humbled for all the support and kindness I have received, especially from my industry contacts, during this tumultuous time in my career. ”
“I have faith that the truth will persist. While I would like to share more revelations in the coming days, it is paramount that you all appreciate the sensitivity of the situation and understand that not only me but several other individuals may be threatened and coerced for standing by the truth,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ms. Bose is accused of abusing social media by posting her departure from Zilingo, claiming that her personal information was leaked without her permission.
The startup fired 30-year-old entrepreneur Ms Bose on March 31 after receiving “complaints of major financial irregularities”, media reports said.
Ms. Bose announced on May 27 that she had received an urgent protective order against a Twitter user from a Singapore court. Her statement did not name the user, the reports added.
Zilingo is backed by Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia, Temasek, German investment firm Burda, and Belgian family office Sofina, among others, and is valued at more than $800 million.
