Suzuki Jimny Inventories are better than last year, but demand for the market’s smallest 4×4 is still outstripping supply – making waiting lists a constant factor.

That’s significant enough to make the little mountain goat the company’s second best-selling vehicle – after Baleno but before both Fast and Vitarahave their own stock constraints.
However, while supply has clearly improved compared to what we received between 2019 and 2021, so has demand, with the dealer network currently receiving 140 to 160 orders per day on average. week – equivalent to a demand of about 600 pieces per month.
Suzuki Australia general manager, Michael Pachota, told us last week, said the average waiting time (depending on dealer varies by dealer) is around 6-8 months.
This is reflected in car assortment listings, with 67 Jimnys currently being advertised on Carsales for $40,000 north – well above the suggested retail price.
Since the beginning of 2019, Suzuki has sold less than 10,000 units of the current generation Jimny 4×4 in Australia (9673).
There are two types of Suzuki Jimny specifications: Jimny Lite and regular Jimny.
Both are just 3645mm long but have 210mm of ground clearance, a part-time 4×4 with low, stiff axles at each end with coils and three links per wheel, and a 75kW 1.5-litre petrol engine with gearbox five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
As unique as it is, there are few other precious things to choose from.
Although not confirmed for Australia, the long-awaited five-door Jimny is getting closer to production, as our recent spy images demonstrate.
At this stage, it’s unclear Suzuki intends to call it Jimny. The name Jimny Long has been launched before but nothing has been confirmed yet.
