Sweat and city training essentials
Elizabeth & Dale is back on the blog today for part 2 of their 3-part series. And I’m happy today because it’s a swap. That means I’m on their blog Answer a little q&a from their audience. Very happy. Be sure to check it out when you’re done here.
Today is about their favorite workout gear and apparel. Plus, they’re sharing details about their new app ORRO sounds great.
If you missed their first post where they shared a day in their life about eating, snacks, and drinks, you can check it out here. But let me introduce you to these hustlers again.
Elizabeth & Dale has built an incredible brand, Sweat & City. They saw a gap in the fitness space and searched for it. On their platform, they rate and share in-store gyms and fitness classes and most recently launched their own subscription service, ORRO brings you these classes.
ORRO is the perfect app to help you work out at home, while traveling, or if you’re short on time and can’t make it to class. So who better to discuss their cute at-home gear and workout wear than Elizabeth & Dale.
Let’s welcome Sweat & City back to the blog.
Sweat and city training essentials
♡♡♡
Hello TSC, we are Elizabeth Endres & Dale Borchiver, the duo debuted Sweat & City & most recently the ORRO app.
Be sure to check out ours first post we shared what we ate for a day and a little insight into how SATC was born!
Sweat & City started as a fitness blog and social media platform, as a source for reviews of the many small fitness studios that are springing up in NYC. Since then, we’ve expanded nationally to review and discuss all things health, fitness, and wellness.
Then in 2020, as the world landscape began to change, we launched an online workout platform where we schedule in-person and on-demand workouts, including daily instructors. Heads are carefully selected from all over the world. Through this platform, we are able to bring our industry expertise to a wider audience, in a different form.
At the beginning of 2022, we decided to relaunch and upgrade our platform to create ORRO. For $19 a month, subscribers can experience live + on-demand workouts and self-care classes on their iPhone, Android, and desktop, anywhere and anytime. any time.
Now then ORRO – and thus home workouts – make up the bulk of our fitness routines, we’ve perfected the equipment & essentials for online (and mostly low-impact) workouts. Let’s go there!
Here are all our must-haves when it comes to workouts:
♡ BALA BANGLES
We are longtime fans of Bala Bangles. They’re versatile and chic, and we love that they can be used to level up almost any workout – whether it’s a sculpting class or a simple walk around the block. We usually use 1lb pairs (they also sell 2lb pairs) – and find that they pair great with our favorite low-impact exercises.
♡ ALO YOGA MAT
We know $100 for a yoga mat is a lot, but when you use it a few times a week, the quality of your mat matters a lot. We love how this mat doesn’t slip on the floor, withstands all of our weekly workouts, and looks really slick in our home. A high-quality rug is an underrated motivator!
♡ FIX FROM KITSCH
Hair is the first thing that needs to be taken care of when exercising. We’re big fans of the scrunchie, not the elastic to hold your hair during a workout. Silks are especially popular because they prevent breakage and provide better support than your regular hair tie.
♡ MOVE
Our secret sauce is committed to exercising for an hour at least 5 days a week. For us, this is usually a combination of ORRO and walking. A lot of days are like 30 minutes of ORRO followed by 30 minutes of walking. We’ve seen a collective shortening of attention spans since the pandemic began, and we’re all looking for sustainable habits that feel good. When it comes to those steps, we recommend walking to take a call or catch up with a friend, and 10k is our daily goal!
Our exact weekly schedule is posted on the app (we have live classes almost daily, which you can add to your calendar so you don’t forget). These typically include 20 – 45 minute classes that are generally low impact. If you can’t take the classes in person, you can get them on demand once they’re done!
♡ SMALL TABLE
These bands are a great addition to home workouts. They are travel-friendly, easy to maintain, and you can find them on Amazon! They also have different levels of resistance and we love that versatility.
♡ WATER BOTTLES
Hydration is key! We find it hard to remember to drink enough water sometimes, so we always refill our Manna Hydration bottles and keep them with us wherever we go. The wide straw and the fact that it stays cold seriously help us remember to drink! There’s something about an open cup that’s unappealing and doesn’t get the job done. Add in a good pitcher with a straw and you’ll have more to drink.
♡ GOOGLE CALENDAR
Listen to us: Your Google Calendar can be a great motivator when it comes to your workout routine – even if it’s a quick 20-minute class or a walk. We’ve found that when you schedule your move, it allows you to visualize your day and also holds you accountable. Sometimes we think we don’t have time, but waste more than 20 minutes scrolling on social media, when we could use it.
Want a boost? Commit time & date with a friend, send them an invite & do it all at once. Lauryn is also big on this!
MINISTRY OF WORK
Feeling comfortable in your activewear is a top priority for us. When you wear a set that you feel good about, you’ll be much more motivated. Here are our favorite picks:
Current picks from Dale:
I’m in love Aerial Yoga Leggings + Conspiracy bra from Hello! I find the alo set to be super flattering, the form fits well. They are super comfortable and move with you! Not to mention, very classy and get you excited about your workout.
Current picks from Elizabeth:
I’m in love Crossover Leggings + Corso . see-through bra from Le Ore – an exclusive brand of Bandier. Super flattering style and very classy cuts! They also stay in place when you work out!
We hope you enjoy our top picks, and if you download ORRO, you get a 7 day free trial! We hope you like it!
