Taliban beat Tesla with a punch, launching Afghanistan’s first supercar

Yes, we know that now is not April 1. In very serious news, the Taliban, the ruling party of Afghanistan, has ripped off its first supercar, which was developed in just 5 years. .

Development of the Mada-9 began in 2017, around the same time Tesla unveiled its revolutionary supercar. Unlike Tesla, the Taliban have been through the cargo and unveiled a fully functioning vehicle, powered by a modest Toyota Corolla engine – although, like Tesla, they hope to one day launch a version. electricity.

According to Zabiullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s official spokesman, more than a dozen builders, engineers and designers have worked on the vehicle over a five-year period, recently revealing it to the world’s media. gender. The prototype uses a push rod suspension (inspired by Formula 1) and a tubular chassis to keep weight to a minimum.

Video of the Mada-9 supercar shows it hard at work making donuts in the snow, with slight gaps clearly visible through the bodywork. It’s unclear whether the front-mounted engine, like the Toyota Corolla sponsor car, or a center-mounted unit like you’ll find in the Lotus, is also known to use Toyota engines.

The car’s designer, Mohammad Riza Ahmadi, is quite proud of the creation and told local media that he wants the car to travel around the country “to impart intellectual value to people”.

“It will start its journey in Afghanistan and maybe one day go international,” he told local Tolo News channel.

He also told local media that he hopes to show the car at this year’s Doha fair in Qatar.

We look forward to hearing when the Mada-9 departs at the Nurburgring once the track opens in the spring.
