Teofimo Lopez predicts Kambosos to last “One round, he’s too small” Boxing News 24
Via Allan Fox: Teofimo Lopez predicts George Kambosis Jr a first round knockout for an easy defense of his IBF, WBA, WBC Franchise & WBO lightweight titles this Saturday night on DAZN. The unbeaten Australian Teofimo and Kambosos are in the spotlight on November 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Teofimo (16-0, 12 KOs) says someone should tell Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs) that he was too small for the 135-lb class and that he needed to drop to 130 to maneuver in the ultralightweight class. Teo feels that Kambosos will be better at 130.
What’s interesting is that Teofimo seems like he’s serious about Kambosos needing to drop the weight down to ultralight. Teo seemed to want to help Kambosos rather than someone who was slandering his opponent.
Teofimo’s thoughts on Kambosos’ lack of size for the 135 lb division were echoed by many, as they felt the Australian was too small to fight at lightweight, which is why he lacked punching power.
If he drops the weight to 130, he will be better in the long run.
“One round, he’s too small,” Teofimo Lopez told iFL TV about his first-ever knockout prediction with George Kambosos. “People didn’t tell this kid that he’s a 130-pound man. He’s NOT a 135-pound guy.
“I can see it in his body,” Teofimo continued. “He’s at 130 it’s better than 135″.
If Kambosos had used his normal high-volume punch on Saturday night as he usually does in his matches, he would have been caught in the first round with something big from Teofimo.
For Kambosos’ sake, he needs to be tactical and pick his position as he will get hurt if he stands in front of Teofimo trying to throw 100 punches per round in hopes of knocking him down. That would be an approach that is bound to fail for Kambosos.
“He’s not ready for this,” Teofimo said. “I will show this boy. If it wasn’t someone who had learned, it would have been him. F*** him, I don’t like him at all,” Teofimo said when asked how he felt about Kambosos.
“I am grateful to be on a platform like this. Whoever they put in front of me, I hit them. My contract with ESPN is for two years and I have three games a year.
“I’m looking forward to getting this guy out on Saturday night so I can focus on what’s available in store early next year,” said Teofimo. At this point in the interview, Teofimo had to separate after his father, Lopez Sr. engage in a fiery melee with Team Kambosos.
“We are not lying here. That is stress. This is not a show. We are really doing this,” said Teofimo.
