Terence Crawford doesn’t seem confident the Errol Spence fight will be successful
Via Chris Williams: Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford has revealed the truth, revealing that negotiations for a major bout with uniformweight champion Errol Spence Jr are not going well.
In an interview on Thursday, Crawford said a fight between him and Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) is possible.”down the line.Immediately after saying that, Crawford corrected himself, saying that he “hopes” to make the match against Spence. “so soon.“
It was clear to Chris Williams that Crawford’s first words were more true about the fight with Errol that would happen in the future than now.
This shows that WBO welterweight champion Crawford is not happy with the money offered to him for the match against Spence, and unless they come up with a better offer, he will move on.
Some believe that Crawford wanted 25 million dollars for a unity match with Spence and he can be offered significantly less, perhaps in the vicinity $10 to $15 million.
You can’t blame PBC for not betting the farm on a fight with Spence and Crawford bringing in enough PPV purchases to cover the guaranteed large sums both warriors will demand.
Crawford has never been a pay-per-view fighter in his career, and his résumé is thin, full of nameless naysayers. While Crawford has won world titles in three weight classes, he has done it with less than the best.
The match Crawford is said to be looking to replace the one against Spence is a title against the undisputed 154-lb champion Jermell Charlo.
However, that fight probably won’t pay Crawford anywhere near what he gets for fighting Spence, and it’s a match he will likely lose due to his lack of size and experience. at the age of 154.
“Oh my, I love that fight. Hope, we can make that war go smoothly, and you know real early, not down the line, real early. Give the fans what they’re looking for,” Terence Crawford told Against TV Hub about the undisputed clash with Errol Spence Jr.
“We’re working to get that job done for you,” Crawford said.
It is clear from what Crawford is saying that the negotiations are not going well with Spence.
If this fight doesn’t go through, PBC may need to let Crawford sit idle as he’ll want a lot of money no matter who he’s fighting and he’s not delivering the numbers it deserves.
