Terrifying video of massive avalanche in Nepal’s Mustang

A horrifying video of a massive avalanche on a snow-covered mountain in Nepal has gone viral on social media. The video shows a thick layer of snow interrupting the serene scenery of the area surrounded by hills in the country’s Mustang district.
Some screams could be heard in the background and several others were seen running for cover as visible white streams were descending, enveloping the area.
The two-day-old clip opens with the camera zooming towards the top of the mountain, then the footage turns shaky as the person filming the incident appears to start fleeing to safety.
The ANI news agency quoted an official as saying 11 people, including seven students, were injured in a 30-minute ski crash and ran over a school.
“Everyone has been evacuated and moved to safer grounds. The snowboarding continued for 30 minutes. There have been no reports of casualties so far. Most of the injured were students of a local school. local school,” Netra Prasad Sharma, Sheriff of Mustang told ANI.
The official said the avalanche erupted from Mount Tukuche and blew the slope down to Janadarsha Amarsingh High School while classes were taking place.
Himalayan avalanches are not uncommon but Sunday’s one is believed to be the largest ever in the region.
