Test flight of more than 120 ships at Star Citizen in the next two weeks
Star Citizen, an interstellar flight simulator in development about flying impressive spaceships that you can buy with hard earned real money, will host Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951 (IAE 2951) from today until December 1st.
Normally, to break free from the yoke of a spaceship in Star Citizen, you’d have to earn at least $45 to gain access to one of the game’s more basic ships. However, like a real-life car show (or a trip to most car dealerships), the IAE 2951 will allow intrepid pilots to test out more than 120 different possible ships. from different fictional manufacturers. Each day of the event will shift the focus to specific ship companies and their cargo.
A press release from Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium reveals Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951 will feature “six remarkable ships”, listing the “heavy armed ship” Aegis Redeemer, along with a duo of variables Ares Starfighter is called Ion and Inferno among these announcements while also promising a few surprises.
For the duration of the show, Star Citizen will be free to play, although how capacity is outside of the star convention is not detailed in the press release. New pilots can go to game site to register to get an account and download the client to participate in IAE 2951.
For those who are wondering when Star Citizen will be released, there is not yet. After starting a crowdfunding effort in 2012, Cloud Imperium has steadily built new ships and features for its ambitious space sequel program for Wing Commander, monetizing ship sales and Register on the go. In 2018, an all-star cast was announced for the game’s campaign mode called 42 Squadron.
