The final match at Kentucky Derby Future has been pushed to next week
The fifth and final pool of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW), is scheduled from March 31 to April. 2, will be delayed by a week and will now run from Thursday, April 7 to Saturday, April 9.
“Our Future Betting Selection Committee met on Monday and wanted to utilize some of the key horses in the top 23 betting preferences, namely the Dirty Vow of Secrets, the runner in the Arkansas Derby on Saturday and finished second in the UAE Derby last weekend, Summer is tomorrow,” said Darren Rogers, Churchill Downs Senior Director of Communications and Media Services.
“When we learned that next week’s rotation wasn’t complicated from a technical standpoint, we contacted the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to get approval to move Group 5 to next week. We truly believe it is in the best interest of bettors to delay placing bets by a week for a clearer picture after this weekend’s Florida Derby, Arkansas Derby and Jeff Ruby Steaks and to better understand the condition of the horses intended for shipment to Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby 148.”
The field of 24 betting preferences will be announced on Tuesday. The three-day pool will run April 7-9 and close before the first Road to the Kentucky Derby Championship Series race on Saturday afternoon (times to be announced).
