While we’ve known for a while That’s New Orleans pelican star Zion Williamson loves anime, things are about to get a little more serious with the release of an upcoming pair of sneakers.
Nike announced that Williamson, who has his own signature shoe with the company (Zion 1)will be lending his name soon as part of a partnership to a pair of anime themed sneakers from another linewith a pair of Air Jordan 37 will be released in a “Rasengan color scheme”.
Rasengan is the name of “A rotating chakra sphere is formed and held in the palm of the user’s hand” for narutoa series Williamson loved so much, he talked about it in depth in an interview with GQ last yearcall it my “north star”:
Williamson talks about Naruto with the same reverence that other NBA players do about the Bible—it offers comfort and clarity in equal parts. During the past year—an unusually tumultuous year in his already successful career—Naruto has been his star of the north.
The shoe is full of little nods to the series, EQUAL Sneaker maniac shown:
Featuring a spiky yellow on the tongue (a reference to Naruto’s signature hairstyle), the Air Jordan 37 includes a monochromatic serene blue upper. Claw marks hit the ankle pads, while the tongue is decorated with metallic silver – inspired by Naruto’s forehead armor. Naruto’s catchphrase だってばよ! (‘Believe it!’) are inscribed on both blades, and Rasengan chakra spheres adorn the sole.

The Rasengan Zion x Naruto x Jordan 37s will be releasing on February 20, and being a general release model of Jordan might actually be fairly easy to get your hands on. I’d expect Zion will also be wearing them on the court around the same time as well.
