For some people, eating is emotional. They don’t just eat because they have to, they eat because it gives them joy. What if there was also recognition for eating? Social media is flooded with people trying different cuisines and finding newer ways to eat, garnering global attention. Some of these efforts even made their way into YouTube videos from the Guinness Book of World Records. A woman has set a new world record for eating the most chicken nuggets in a minute. Watching speed runner Leah Shutkever, from the UK, eat chicken nuggets is both an absolute joy and a thrilling experience at the same time.

Leah ate 352 gm (equivalent to a box of 19 nuggets) of a McDonald’s snack in 60 seconds. She tried to eat a bowl of 20 nuggets but could only eat 19. Before eating, Leah said she had to eat them all to break the record previously held by model and competitive eater Nela Zisser. In November 2020, Nela ate 298 grams of chicken nuggets in Auckland, New Zealand. Leah appeared frustrated and uncertain about her efforts. However, after calculating, she surpassed Nela’s record by 54 grams.

Leah has had several Guinness World Records, including the title of eating the most chicken nuggets in 3 minutes (775.1 grams), according to Guinness World Records.
Some of her current titles include:
– Fastest time to eat three meat pies (52.21 seconds in 2019)
– Fastest time to eat three salted eggs (7.80 seconds in 2019)
– Fastest time to eat a muffin (without hands) (21.95 seconds in 2019)
– Most marshmallows are eaten in one minute (without hands) (20 marshmallows in 2020).
– Eat the most tomatoes in a minute (8 in 2020)
Leah began competitive eating at a young age. When she was 23 years old, her brother challenged her to eat at a restaurant. Since then, she has set her eyes on lofty goals. “As you set goals and achieve them, your confidence grows and I think that was just a big turning point in my life,” she says.
