Top Games and Metaverse Cryptos for 2022
2021 is the year that a lot of people have been introduced to the crypto world and we are not only talking about Bitcoin and Ethereum, but also altcoins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, as well as terms like zero tokens replaceable (NFT) and metaverse . As we head into 2022, there’s a lot to look forward to and one area of crypto that is expected to bloom in the coming year is the world of Web 3.0 – also proclaimed as the future of the internet. This five-part series will deepen your understanding of the expanding crypto space and its elements.
For 2022, I am optimistic about 5 crypto areas:
- Web 3.0
- Games & Metaverse
- Public Blockchains
- Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
- Medium of exchange
In the previous edition, we mentioned Top Cryptos Web 3.0 for 2022. Today, let’s talk about Top Games and Metaverse Cryptos for 2022.
What is Metaverse?
The reverse is a “parallel digital universe” where you can create your digital avatar and work, travel, learn, play and party!
The best way to understand the metaverse is to watch these movies – Ready Player One, Avatar and Wreck-it Ralph.
Metaverse is actually a pretty old concept. My first experience with it was using “Second Life” in the early 2000s. The Duran Duran Band performed a concert in the virtual world Second Life in 2006.

Axie Infinity (AXS)
Axie Infinity is a “fighting game” in which users battle their Axes (creatures or characters) in real time. Each Axie is a unique ERC-721 (NFT) non-fungible token.
Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) is an ERC20 governance token in the Axie universe. AXS holders can get rewards by staking tokens, playing games and participating in governance. Players can also earn AXS by playing games and creating content.
Smooth Love Potions (SLP) is an ERC20 token that can be earned by playing and can be used to breed new Axies.
Enjin Coin (ENJ)
Enjin Platform is a service that allows game developers to issue fungible and non-fungible assets in the form of in-game Ethereum tokens. The Enjin Marketplace allows buying and selling of ERC-1155 assets.
Enjin Coin (ENJ) is an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency that supports the value of fungible and non-fungible tokens.
Gala (GALA)
Gala is a game platform that is partly owned and operated by players. Players can earn GALA tokens by playing.
GALA is a “non-refundable utility token” that can be used as a medium of exchange between participants in the Gala Games ecosystem. It can also be used to influence what games Gala should develop.
Decentraland (MANA)
Decentraland is an Ethereum-based “virtual reality platform” where you can buy, build and monetize virtual lands.
Decentraland uses 2 tokens – MANA and LAND.
MANA is an ERC-20 token that can be burned to obtain a non-fungible LAND ERC-721 token. The MANA token can be used to pay for avatars, wearables, names, etc on the Decentraland marketplace.
Sandbox (SAND)
Sandbox is a blockchain-based metaverse (virtual world) with a “play to earn” model. Its native utility token is $SAND. Metaverse is made up of digital real estate lots called LANDs.
Players can build, own, and monetize game experiences using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and $SAND. Player-generated digital content in the form of NFTs can be integrated into games using The Sandbox Game Maker.
