Turkey unveils first prototype of ‘game-changing’ fighter
Türkiye (Turkey) is in the final stages of assembling the prototype of the ‘game-changing’ fighter jet.
Turkish media reported that the first prototype of the self-developed fighter jet has entered the final assembly line at the TAI facility.
The new fighter is called the MMU (Milli Muharip Ucak) and is expected to leave the hangar in 2023. The first part of the MMU production was completed in November 2021.

The MMU is planned to remain in the Turkish Air Force’s depot until the 2070s and will be able to interact with other important assets such as the F-16.
The main contract for the MMU indigenous design and development program between the Deputy Minister of Defense Industry (SSM) of the Ministry of Defense of Turkey and Turkish Aerospace was signed on 5 August 2016 .
The MMU will be a multirole aircraft, designed primarily for the air-to-air role and also taking into account the air-to-ground role.
