Tyson Fury says he won’t wait for Dillian Whyte, will fight in February or March Boxing News 24

Via William Lloyd: Tyson Fury says he won’t wait for Dillian Whyte for his refereeing case to settle before the fight resumes. Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) says he’ll fight in February or March, and he won’t be waiting for interim WBC champion Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs).

Fury, 33, points out that his past arbitration case against Deontay Wilder dragged on for 18 months before it was finally finalized.

The consequence is, Fury has no interest in waiting for Whyte’s arbitration The lawsuit with the World Boxing Council must be completed before he returns to the ring.

As for who he will fight in February or March, Fury remains uncertain. He said if his promoters didn’t put him in the fight by then, he would fire them all and promote himself.

Ideally, Fury says he wants to take on the IBF/WBA/WBO . heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to show how it’s done when beating a smaller heavyweight.

It won’t make Whyte promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing happy to hear Fury say he won’t be waiting for him because he seems to be under the impression that the two will fight next.

Fury is NOT waiting for Dillian

“I thought I was going to fight Dillian Whyte. I don’t know what he’s doing with his private life with the WBC,” Tyson Fury told iFL TV on Whyte.

“He has an ongoing lawsuit, which could actually be because I know how long the arbitration takes place. It took me 18 months to sort my out with Deontay Wilder, so I hope he [Whyte] I don’t get tangled up in the long grass, and I hope I don’t have to fight anyone else as a volunteer.

“Yes, I’m not interested in waiting for people. I have to do what I have to do. I will fight in February, early March at the latest. I will defend my WBC championship, and that’s it.

“Do not fight him [Whyte]? No,” Fury said when asked if he would ever consider NOT fighting Dillian Whyte. “It was too easy a fight anyway. So it would be ideal indeed. Honestly, a heavy bag on my feet is what I’m after.

“I need him. To be fair, he’s the ideal candidate, but I’m sure he has his own legal circumstances and he needs to deal with that first. I doesn’t care who I’m up against,” Fury said.

It was a wise move for Fury to go ahead and fight someone else in February or March instead of waiting for Whyte’s arbitration case to be completed.

As it stands, Fury spent a lot of time waiting for the umpire to settle Wilder’s case before being able to face him in their trio fight. The last thing Fury needs now is to put his career on ice for another 18 months to wait for the Dillians’ arbitration with the WBC to be finalized.

Whyte may have shot himself in the foot when he decided to go after the WBC with this lawsuit. Had he not done that, they could have ordered a fight between Fury and Whyte this week, and everything would have been done.

There’s still no chance that Whyte will have a chance against Fury because he needs to agree to a split, and Top Rank is talking about an 80-20 split. That’s light years from the 55-45 that the WBC says is possible for the interim champions.

Tyson said he would give Usyk a good hiding place

“I will marry the little cruiser guy [Oleksandr Usyk] and show a way for the petty man to escape. I will handle him. He’s too small.

“I will definitely fight in February or early March, 1 million percent. There are no ifs, buts, or maybes about that, or I’ll get rid of my entire promotional outfit and I’ll promote myself. Promotion Gypsy King.

“Who it is, I just don’t care because the result will always be the same. I will win, and I will beat the mother because that’s how I do it now. Detroit, what’s going on? ‘ Fury said.

Usyk will face Anthony Joshua next in a rematch, which means Fury’s only chance to fight the undefeated three-belt champion is if Joshua steps aside.

Also, Fury will need to wait and see who becomes the winner of that contest. Fury’s promoter Bob Arum tried to throw a lifeline to Joshua by asking him to step aside so Tyson could face Usyk, but he resisted the idea.
