University of Wisconsin track star Sarah Shulze dies of suicide at 21
The University of Wisconsin community has lost a rising star.
Sarah Shulzea star cross country track and field who competed in middle school, died by suicide at the age of 21. Shulze’s family recently shared a statement to her website confirming that she passed away on April 13.
“The balance between sport, academia and the demands of everyday life overwhelmed her in a moment of despair,” the statement read. “Like you, we’re shocked and saddened to hold onto all that Sarah had.”
“Above all else, Sarah is a force for good in the world,” their statement continued. “Her deep compassion is evident in her devotion to her sisters Monastery and Ella“
After her death, the Shulze family extended the influence of college students to those closest to her.
