Update: Dying Light 2 main story lasts about 20 hours

As revealed last weekend that doing everything in Dying Light 2 Stay Human will take 500 hours (and less than 100 hours to beat the story, complete all side quests, and explore the map), Techland has speak Game informant that the main story of Dying Light 2 could be completed in about 20 hours.

“Completing all the side quests, learning about world history, and engaging with all the characters could easily take 80 hours or more, depending on the playstyle,” Techland said. “Dying Light 2 takes place in a complex world filled with content and built in both width and length.”

For comparison, Techland says that in the original Dying Light, completing the main story and all side quests took about 30 hours.

“According to our internal QA testing, it took around 500 hours to see everything the game has to offer – find every collection, hear every dialogue, get every easter egg, complete every possible ending. can and visit anywhere in the world,” Techland said. “We are fortunate to have a very passionate fanbase who have been returning to the original Dying Light for the past seven years and we know they can’t wait to really lose themselves in the work. our newest product.”

Original Story, 10:13 a.m. EST, 10/1/22:

Over the weekend, Techland announced that Dying Light 2 Stay Human would take 500 hours to max upgrade, and the news spread like wildfire.

Some players expressed excitement at such a large amount of content while others pointed out that “500 hours” was a huge turning point. At first, Techland says it will take 500 hours to “fully complete” the sequel, citing that 500 hours is about the same time it takes to walk from Warsaw, Poland to Madrid, Spain. However, the company has expanded after that to let players know that completing the story will take much less time.

“500 hours is involved in maxing out the game – completing all quests, finishing and exploring every corner of the world, but a casual player should complete the story + side quests and explore pretty much broke in less than 100 hours, so don’t worry,” a second tweet from Dying Light 2’s official Twitter account reads.

Extrapolating from that second tweet, it’s clear that most players won’t spend 500 hours completing the game – in fact, if it takes 100 hours to beat the story, complete all the side quests. and explore the map, it could very well take significantly less time to simply beat the story. Basically, if 500 hours is a short time for you, don’t worry – you won’t necessarily spend that much time on this game.

Considering most players don’t actually toss credits into the game, something tells us the average playtime would be a much smaller number than 500.

We’ll find out more as we all get to play Techland’s ambitious sequel to 2015’s zombie parkour game when it releases in just a few weeks on February 4th.
