Viewers Guide to New York Rangers-Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes-Minnesota Wild on ESPN+


The ESPN+ exclusive schedule will continue Tuesday night with a flurry of potential Stanley Cup Finals, as the four participating teams are all within the NHL’s top eight by point percentage. Coverage begins at 7:55 p.m. ET for Hurricane Carolina in Minnesota Wild, while everything starts at 8:55 p.m. ET for New York Ranger‘visit Colorado Avalanche.

  • The Hurricanes are wrapping up a five-game ride with this one. Carolina is 3-1-0 so far, and has conceded two or less goals in each of the first four games. They have never allowed two or less goals (excluding penalty shootout goals) in each match of a run of five or more games. The last club to do this in each game of the five-game journey was the Blues, who did twice in the 2016-17 season.

  • Carolina entered Monday with the most wins (12), the most points in the leaderboard (25) and the highest percentage of points (0.735, 12-4-1) on the road this season.   • The Wild are looking to avoid their first three-game losing streak under current coach Dean Evason. Even with losses in the past two games, Wild’s 39-point and 0.696-point percentage still equates to the 28 best starts in team history against the 2011-12 team.

  • The Wilds are averaging 3.68 goals per game, third in the NHL and by far the team with the best scoring percentage in franchise history (they score 3.21 goals per game in recent seasons). 2016-17 and 2020-21).   • Ryan Hartman is averaging 0.83 points per game this season after averaging 0.36 for his career entering 2021-22. Hartman is just eight points away from his career highs of 31 during the 2016-17 season with the Blackhawks and 2017-18 with the Blackhawks and Predators.

  • According to the Stathists, Kaprizov has 21 steals, leading the NHL and 12 times more than anyone else in the Wild. Kaprizov has 33 possessions from under the line in attack, second in the NHL, behind Connor McDavid.

  • Rangers are 18-6-3, good for 39 points this season. They are one win and one point behind in the league, and their 0.722 point rate is tied with the Hurricanes for the second-best finish in the league behind the Panthers (0.741, 18-5-4, 40 Pts).
