Viewers Guide to New York Rangers-Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes-Minnesota Wild on ESPN+

The ESPN+ exclusive schedule will continue Tuesday night with a flurry of potential Stanley Cup Finals, as the four participating teams are all within the NHL’s top eight by point percentage. Coverage begins at 7:55 p.m. ET for Hurricane Carolina in Minnesota Wild, while everything starts at 8:55 p.m. ET for New York Ranger‘visit Colorado Avalanche.

• The Hurricanes are wrapping up a five-game ride with this one. Carolina is 3-1-0 so far, and has conceded two or less goals in each of the first four games. They have never allowed two or less goals (excluding penalty shootout goals) in each match of a run of five or more games. The last club to do this in each game of the five-game journey was the Blues, who did twice in the 2016-17 season.

• Carolina entered Monday with the most wins (12), the most points in the leaderboard (25) and the highest percentage of points (0.735, 12-4-1) on the road this season. Since the coach Rod Brind’Amour taken over in 2018-19, the Hurricanes are having the third-best road-point percentage association in the NHL with the Bruins, at 0.612. Only Lightning (.676) and Capitals (.665) are better.

• The Hurricanes have played nine road games decided by a goal (6-2-1 in nine), drawing with their opponents tonight – Wild – second in the NHL behind the Ducks, who played 11.

• The Hurricanes are averaging 3.15 goals per game and 2.15 goals conceded per game. The 1.00 goal/game difference this season tied the Panthers for the highest percentage in the NHL. They also have the highest shot-to-goal difference per game in the NHL, as they average 6.0 more than their opponents.

• Carolina beat their opponents 28-14 in the third inning, the second-best third-half goal difference this season behind only the Panthers, at a plus 15. 14 goals conceded eight fewer than any other team. is different.

• Sebastian Aho missed Sunday’s game because of an illness that would, technically, end his five-game multi-game streak (the NHL only recognizes individual points without missing team games) , which is one of the longest records in franchise history set by Mike Rogers in 1979-80 and Kevin Dineen in 1988-1989 for the Hartford Whalers. Aho is fifth in the NHL in points, with 32 and averaging 1.23 points per game, ranking 10th in the league and would be the highest single-season percentage by a Hurricanes player since the team’s move from Hartford 1997-98.

• Defender player Jaccob Slavin averaged 28:14 on ice per game in December, the highest rate in the NHL. That’s five minutes more per game than his season average in May (23:08).

• Goalie Frederik Andersen seventh in savings rate this season, at 0.930 (minimum 10 games played) and second behind Pittsburgh’s Tristan Jarry (1.92) in terms of goals versus average, at 1.93. Andersen’s career-best save percentage is 0.923, in 28 games during his 2013-14 rookie season with the Ducks.

• The Wild are looking to avoid their first three-game losing streak under current coach Dean Evason. Even with losses in the past two games, Wild’s 39-point and 0.696-point percentage still equates to the 28 best starts in team history against the 2011-12 team.

• The Wilds are averaging 3.68 goals per game, third in the NHL and by far the team with the best scoring percentage in franchise history (they score 3.21 goals per game in recent seasons). 2016-17 and 2020-21). Including the winning penalty shoot-outs, Wild have scored four goals in a single game 18 times this season, the most in the NHL (unsurprisingly they are 15-2-1 in those games) .

• Kirill Kaprizov is one of seven active players who averaged 1.00 points per game in the first 83 games of their careers. The others are Alex Ovechkin (108 of the first 83), Sidney Crosby (104), Evgeni Malkin (92), Connor McDavid (91), Elias Pettersson (84) and Mathew Barzal (83).

• Ryan Hartman is averaging 0.83 points per game this season after averaging 0.36 for his career entering 2021-22. Hartman is just eight points away from his career highs of 31 during the 2016-17 season with the Blackhawks and 2017-18 with the Blackhawks and Predators.

• According to the Stathists, Kaprizov has 21 steals, leading the NHL and 12 times more than anyone else in the Wild. Kaprizov has 33 possessions from under the line in attack, second in the NHL, behind Connor McDavid.

• Rangers are 18-6-3, good for 39 points this season. They are one win and one point behind in the league, and their 0.722 point rate is tied with the Hurricanes for the second-best finish in the league behind the Panthers (0.741, 18-5-4, 40 Pts). Their 39 points are ranked third in franchise history through 27 games, and are trailed only by 41 points in 1971-72 and 40 points in 1993-94; both teams reached the Stanley Cup Finals (1993-94 Rangers won the Cup).

• Rangers have won 4 games in a row and the score is 10-3-2 this season. The only team with a better percentage of road points this season than Rangers’ .733 is Carolina (.735, 12-4-1). This performance is tied with the most points (22) Rangers have in the first 15 games of a season in franchise history with the 2010-11 campaign (11-4-0, 22 points); a win on this game will give them the most points over their first 16 road games of all time.

• Rangers are leading 9-2-3 in single-goal games this season. Nine wins are tied for second place in the NHL, and one is afraid to double their total from all previous seasons, when they drew with the Red Wings for the fewest such wins (5). -9-6).

• Adam fox, fox have 29 points to lead all defences this season. If he gets a point on Tuesday, he will be the fastest to get 30 points by a Rangers guard since Brian Leetch made 24 games in the 2000-01 season.

Both players are on an 82-game pace to make around 70 assists this season, a standard a Rangers player has not met since Wayne Gretzky in 1996-97 (72).

• Rangers didn’t have a goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin recently, who has the highest percentage of saves of any goalkeeper with 10 games played this season, at 0.937. Alexander Georgiev ranked 39th, at 0.902. However, Georgiev has a save rate of 0.951 in December, ranking third among goalkeepers who have played at least three games this month.

• Avalanche’s performance of 4.32 goals per game is first in the NHL, and 0.62 goals per game higher than the next best team (Panthers, at 3.70). The difference between the Avalanche and the Panthers is almost the same as the difference between the second and the 12th.

• The Avs recently went on a three-game streak of seven goals, the first team to do so since Penguins 1995-96. Avalanche’s 79 goals in the past 15 games are the most in a 15-game period since Penguins 1995-96. Including the decisive goals in the penalty shootout, Avalanche has 109 goals this season, second in 25 seasons over 25 games.

• As of November 11, Avalanche has the most wins (12) and ranking points (25), and the highest percentage of points (0.833, 12-2-1) in the NHL. Their 79 goals since November 11, 17 more than any other team.

• Cale Makar 12 goals to lead all defences, doing so in 22 games. The last defensive player to score that many in a player’s first 22 games was Dave Ellett, who had 14 in 1988-89. Makar is hitting a pace of 39 goals in Avalanche’s 82 games this season, something a defender has done only four times in NHL history, and not since. • Scorer Avalanche Darcy Kuemper 41st out of 44 goalkeepers (minimum 10 played) with higher-than-expected goals (-9.1) this season, meaning he has conceded 9.1 goals vs. Expect with the quality and quantity of shots faced.
